Curtis Ballard



Curtis Ballard CEO of Demo World Entertainment is an industry power house. His over twenty years of experience in music, photography, film and stage makes him more than a triple threat. A native of Miami Florida, he established his first recording studio in 1993. It was there that he perfected his skills as a performing artist, sound engineer and writer. Under the stage name Drastic, Curtis’s positive rap messages made him one of the favorites among local music lovers. In the late 90’s Curtis was determine to take his musical expression to the next level. He enrolled in Career Institute of America where he studied film, music and television production. In 2006 Curtis shot his first music video for a self produced track entitled “This may be the last time”. With the online success of this video Ballard newly discovered skills would put him in high demand. He began to limit his role in the recording studio as he set his goals on new heights.
For the next four years Curtis would work behind the scenes in the film industry. Taking on jobs that ranged from the role of production assistant to assistant director. His skills as a writer would become valuable as he began to write his first screenplay titled Johnny B. Goode. This would lead to him writing, producing and directing his first feature movie entitled Baghdad. Aided by the strength of his production team, Ronny Cush, Jophrane Ligonde, Serge J. Jean and Ed Brown; Curtis was able to complete this independent drama in record time. In the summer of 2011 the team displayed their work at the Joseph Caleb Auditorium in front of a captive audience. At the conclusion of the film Mr. Ballard and his team were given a standing ovation and favorable remarks by the critics.
Moved by the overwhelming support of the community and their love for the arts; Curtis and his crew have decided to return to the Joseph Caleb Auditorium and host the first ever Miami Inner City Film Festival. This festival/ workshop will teach kids and adults alike about the inner workings of the film industry.
Never the one for rest Curtis has also written a stage play “Lord why now, why me” Which is scheduled to debut April 2012 and is now in the pre production stage for two feature films scheduled to hit the market in early 2013.
